Pinch Bolt Style Ball Joint Installation Tip

Helpful Advice

Installing a ball joint equipped with a pinch bolt calls for some extra attention. Read on to learn an important tip for installing the steering knuckle on a MOOG® pinch bolt style ball joint.

When installing the steering knuckle, take care to make sure it is centered with the recessed area of the ball joint.

If you install the steering knuckle too high, the pinch bolt will ride up higher than the recessed area where it should sit.

If you install it too low, it will ride on the bottom.

Once you have placed the steering knuckle on the ball joint, take a look inside the hole; you should see the recessed area of the ball joint if it is installed correctly.
